Sonari/Charaideo, Apr 16 :Security forces detained a man in Assam’s Charaideo district on Wednesday on suspicion of having links with the banned insurgent group ULFA (Independent).
The individual, identified as Wang alias Noni, was picked up from the Namtola area under Sonari subdivision during an operation carried out by security agencies.
Officials suspect that he may have been working as a linkman for the outfit, possibly assisting in communication or logistical support.Authorities, however, have not shared further details, stating that the investigation is still ongoing.
The detained individual is currently being questioned to determine the extent of his involvement and whether he is connected to a larger network.
Security operations in parts of Upper Assam have been intensified in recent times as agencies continue to monitor and act against suspected links to insurgent groups.
