The dispute over restricted access to the Golf Links area in Shillong was resolved on Friday following the intervention of the Deputy Commissioner.
The issue began after the dorbar shnong of Golf Links locked entry points in response to access restrictions imposed by the Shillong Club. A meeting was later held with Deputy Commissioner Rosetta Mary Kurbah, attended by local MLA Alexander Laloo Hek and representatives of the dorbar shnong.
Speaking after the meeting, Hek said residents had raised concerns over limited access to the golf course, especially for morning walks and use of the Madan Saw.Following discussions, it was agreed that residents of Golf Links dorbar shnong would be allowed free entry to the golf course between 6 am and 8 am upon showing valid residential proof. In addition, players from Golf Links, Mawroh, Pynthorbah and Lumshyiap will be permitted to use the Madan Saw at designated timings without any fees, provided prior notice is given to the Shillong Club.
Authorities also agreed to monitor security arrangements and address any concerns related to personnel in coordination with the Shillong Club.
