
Guwahati, April 17 :Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed strong displeasure over how police handled the exit of Congress leader Pawan Khera from Guwahati after an FIR was filed against him.
Speaking during an interaction, Sarma indicated that action could be taken against the city’s Police Commissioner after the elections.
“If we come back to power, the Commissioner will be in my firing line on May 5,” he said.
Currently, Partha Sarathi Mahanta serves as the Commissioner of Police in Guwahati.The Chief Minister questioned how Khera was able to leave the city shortly after the FIR was lodged, suggesting lapses in policing.
He, however, said that due to the Model Code of Conduct, his government cannot intervene at this stage, adding that his concern is more about the system than any individual.Further deveReaslopments are awaited.
