SHILLONG : The Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has appealed for information on people from the state who may be missing or uncontactable following the devastating flash flood and landslide in Nepal.
The disaster occurred on August 26, particularly in Nepal’s Rasuwa district near the Nepal-Tibet border, damaging villages, roads, bridges and other infrastructure and leaving a large number of people missing or unreachable.
In a public notice issued on Thursday, the SDMA asked family members, relatives, friends, travel agencies, tour operators and members of the public to report any Meghalaya resident believed to be missing in Nepal.
People providing information have been asked to share the person’s name and age, contact number, Meghalaya address, last known location in Nepal and the date and time of their last communication.
The SDMA has provided a dedicated helpline 6009924512, along with emergency numbers 112 / 1070 and CM Connect 1971.
The information received will be compiled and shared with the concerned authorities for verification and necessary assistance, the notice said.
