
Shillong, April 12: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Saturday inaugurated the Nabon Memorial Home at Mawïong Rim, a facility aimed at providing shelter and care for destitute and abandoned women in the community.
The Nabon Memorial Home is designed to serve as a safe and supportive space, ensuring dignity, security and long-term care for vulnerable women.During the inauguration, the Chief Minister announced financial assistance of ₹25 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) to support the functioning and development of the Home.
The facility has been named after Ka Nabon, regarded as the first Christian woman in the Khasi Hills, symbolising courage, faith and service.
Sangma also commended the Jingiaseng Kynthei Shillong Ri-Lum Presbytery and the Shillong Ri-Lum Presbytery for their initiative, highlighting their contribution to social welfare and community upliftment.
