Sohra MLA Gavin Miguel Mylliem assumes charge as MIDC Chairman, focuses on Industrial growth

SHILLONG: Sohra MLA Gavin Miguel Mylliem has assumed charge as Chairman of the Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation Ltd. (MIDC), replacing NPP leader James P.K. Sangma, who was recently elected to the Rajya Sabha.

Mylliem officially took charge on June 10.

In his first remarks after assuming office, the MLA expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar for reposing confidence in him.

He said he would work closely with stakeholders to strengthen MIDC’s role in promoting industrial growth, entrepreneurship, investment and employment opportunities across Meghalaya. Mylliem also pledged to ensure that the corporation continues to contribute to the state’s economic development and expansion of industrial activities.

The appointment comes following the vacancy created after James P.K. Sangma’s election to the Rajya Sabha. MIDC is the state’s nodal agency for industrial promotion and infrastructure development, and plays a key role in attracting investment and supporting industrial growth in Meghalaya.
