TURA : District officials in West Garo Hills sat down Wednesday for a fresh round of planning talks on the 2027 National Games, checking where preparations stand and figuring out what still needs work before the district takes on its share of hosting duties.
Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal led the session at the Tura Circuit House, joined by Assistant Commissioner Saurabh Suman, Sports and Youth Affairs Assistant Director Saljagring M. Marak, Traffic SP Rupam R. Marak, DDMA CEO Jude Rangku T. Sangku, and representatives from several other government departments.
The conversation covered a lot of ground, everything from stadium and venue construction to where visiting athletes and officials will stay, how traffic and transport will be managed on event days, security planning, medical backup, and disaster preparedness. Officials went department by department, flagging which projects were moving on schedule and which ones needed a push.
A recurring theme throughout the meeting was coordination, getting different departments to work in sync rather than in silos, so nothing slips through the cracks as the clock runs down toward 2027. The administration made clear it intends to stay closely aligned with the state’s Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs going forward.
Before wrapping up, officials were told to speed up pending work, put together clear action plans for their respective areas, and keep holding these review sessions regularly so progress doesn’t stall in the months ahead.
