
SHILLONG — Michealsing Ramsiej won the men’s 42-km Full Marathon at the Mawkyrwat Great Marathon IV on September 26, finishing in 2 hours 35 minutes and taking the ₹35,000 first prize.
Jinesfulson Hoojon finished second in 2:38 and received ₹20,000, while Wonderful Paliar placed third in 2:42 with ₹15,000.
The marathon, organised by the Centre for Youth Development (CYD), Mawkyrwat, with support from the Tourism Department, drew 330 participants across four categories: 120 men and 37 women above 18, and 111 boys and 62 girls below 18.
In the women’s category, Sangmir Teronpi won in 49:54, followed by Marqueenless Ramsiej in 52:13 and Phidashisha Lyngdoh in 54:10.
Abbagraceful Nongkseh won the girls’ under-18 category in 54:23, while Aiborlang Wanniang took the boys’ title in 42:23.
Special recognition was also given to the youngest and oldest participants. MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar attended as chief guest, while Kmoiñ Wahlang was the guest of honour.
The event was organised to promote sports, health and fitness and encourage greater participation in sporting activities across South West Khasi Hills.
