The Miss Arunachal Organization has terminated Karbom Taipodia’s candidature from the Miss Arunachal Contest 2026-Dirang Edition following a controversy involving allegations about her personal circumstances and an alleged polygamous relationship.
In a formal notice issued on Thursday, the organisation said the matter was brought to its attention through videos and other material circulating on social media, including Facebook. A social media user had tagged the organisation in a public post raising concerns over an alleged relationship involving Karbom and her husband and asked the pageant management to intervene. The organisation said it subsequently reviewed the material and examined the circumstances surrounding the controversy. Following its verification process, the management concluded that the circumstances were inconsistent with the eligibility, conduct and participation standards laid down for contestants.
The organisation stated that its decision was taken under Clause 3, Part 1(b) of the Miss Arunachal Contest rules and regulations. Karbom’s participation was terminated with immediate effect. She was also directed to stop representing herself as a contestant of Miss Arunachal 2026. According to the notice, all rights, privileges, titles and opportunities attached to her participation in the contest were withdrawn following the decision.
The organisation did not, however, disclose the specific findings reached during its verification. It also did not provide supporting material detailing the allegations that had circulated on social media.
The pageant management said its decision was based on its own rules and standards governing contestants. It maintained that neither the organisation nor its team had encouraged, promoted, supported or endorsed conduct that went against the values, dignity, social responsibility and ethical standards expected from participants.
It also sought to prevent the controversy from affecting the other contestants competing in the 2026 edition.
“There are 25 other contestants who have dedicated their valuable time, effort, commitment, and hard work to participate in this platform and to showcase their respective talents and abilities,” the organisation said. The management said the other participants should be allowed to pursue the competition without having their efforts overshadowed by circumstances involving an individual contestant.
The organisation further said it would continue enforcing its rules and would take appropriate action against participants found violating the standards prescribed for the competition. The notice was signed by managing director Tai Roket and executive director Mayir Taipodia.
The organisation said Miss Arunachal was created as a platform for young women to showcase their talent, confidence, intelligence, creativity and potential, while maintaining the dignity and reputation associated with the title.
The allegation concerning Karbom’s personal circumstances remains an allegation in the material provided. Her response to the organisation’s decision is not included in the notice.
