SHILLONG : The District Selection Committee (DSC), West Jaintia Hills District, has postponed the written examination for Grade IV posts that was scheduled to be held on August 29.
In a notice issued on Thursday, the committee said the examination under the Grade IV (2025) recruitment process has been postponed until further notice. A revised date will be announced later.
The DSC has advised all candidates to follow official notifications issued by the committee for further updates.
The postponement comes amid concerns raised by the Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) over the Grade IV recruitment process in West Jaintia Hills.
The JSU had approached the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills and subsequently the Commissioner and Secretary of the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department, seeking intervention and postponement of the examination.
The union has raised allegations concerning the earlier recruitment process, including concerns over OMR sheets, evaluation and the delay in declaring results. It has also sought an independent inquiry into the issues raised before the next examination is conducted.
The JSU had specifically sought postponement of the August 29 examination and called for the allegations to be examined before the recruitment process moves forward.
Candidates appearing for the Grade IV recruitment should therefore treat August 29 as no longer being the examination date and wait for the revised schedule from the District Selection Committee.
The development comes as scrutiny over recruitment procedures in West Jaintia Hills continues, with the JSU also indicating that it could pursue further democratic and legal action if its concerns are not addressed.
