SHILLONG — The staff nurse recruitment at MCH Hospital, Nongstoin, has now reached the stage where candidates can put allegations of bribery, extortion and other irregularities directly before an official inquiry committee.

A notice issued by the Inquiry Committee on September 30 has invited candidates who faced demands for illegal gratification, extortion, coercion or other irregularities to record their statements and submit complaints.

And the committee is asking for evidence, not just accounts of what allegedly happened.

Candidates can submit audio or video recordings, message logs, financial transaction records and other supporting material connected with their complaints.

Statements will be recorded from October 5 to October 9, between 10 am and 4 pm, at Room No. 108, DC Office, Nongstoin. The committee has also said the identities of candidate-witnesses and their testimonies will be kept strictly confidential to protect them from victimisation or harassment.

The two-member panel comprises Evanmi Lyngdoh, MCS, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate, West Khasi Hills, and Herbert Kharkongor, MPS, Superintendent of Police, West Khasi Hills.

The committee was constituted to inquire into allegations raised by the Voice of the People Party over the recruitment of staff nurses .

The allegations are now on record. The evidence comes next.
