The order was issued on August 11 by the Deputy Commissioner, who also heads the District Tourism Promotion Society.

The restriction applies to tourist destinations as well as roadways and other public areas across the district. Residents, tourists and visitors have been asked not to cook in these locations and to avoid leaving waste behind.
The administration has also urged local communities and visitors to help keep tourist areas and public spaces clean. The district administration said the restriction is aimed at maintaining hygiene and protecting the scenic character of public places in South West Garo Hills.
