TURA : More than 300 job seekers from West Garo Hills and nearby areas attended a recruitment drive at the Industrial Training Institute campus in Tura on Monday, with employers offering jobs across healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, technology and other sectors.

The Phase II Recruitment Drive was organised by the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS) in collaboration with the Directorate of Employment and Craftsman Training (DECT).

The participating companies included Apollo Hospitals, [24]7.ai, Yashoda Hospitals, Apollo Tyres, Cadabam’s Group, S.P. Apparels, Tattva Wellness, BON, Cosmos, Saathiya, Zivaya Spa, OSM–Omega Seiki Mobility, Accel Skill, SUEZ, ITC Hotels, Ajith Enterprises, Pride Plaza Hotel Ahmedabad, 2COMS, Aspirea and Taco Bell, among others.

The vacancies covered both jobs within Meghalaya and positions in other parts of the country, giving candidates options across several industries.

Healthcare accounted for a large share of the positions. Vacancies included Staff Nurses, Assistant Nurses, Nursing Professionals, Nursing Aids, Healthcare Assistants, Nursing and Care Assistants, General Duty Assistants, Physiotherapist Assistants and Caregivers.

Some of the healthcare positions also involved home-based care services.Candidates were able to meet recruiters directly, submit applications and learn about eligibility, job responsibilities, recruitment procedures and the requirements attached to different positions.

Sabina D. Sangma, Skill Development Officer, West Garo Hills, said recruitment platforms that bring employers and job seekers together can help address the gap between available skills and industry requirements.

The drive also included vacancies in hospitality, automobile and mobility, wellness, manufacturing and technology, allowing candidates to consider employment beyond conventional local job options.

The recruitment exercise provided access to a large pool of candidates from West Garo Hills and surrounding areas for employers.

The Tura drive was the second phase of the recruitment initiative being conducted by MSSDS and DECT to connect trained and job-seeking youth with employers.

The event comes amid continued demand for employment opportunities among young people in Meghalaya, particularly platforms where candidates can meet companies directly rather than relying only on online recruitment.
