Tura : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday inaugurated the newly relocated 41 Meghalaya Battalion NCC at Cherangre in Tura, saying the expansion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Garo Hills would create new opportunities for the youth of the region.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the NCC continues to play an important role in shaping discipline, leadership, resilience, and patriotism among young people.
“The NCC continues to play a vital role in shaping leadership, discipline, patriotism, and resilience. These are values that build not only strong individuals, but also a stronger society,” Conrad said.
He said the government is focusing on creating more platforms for young people through initiatives linked to sports, youth engagement, and institutional development.
“Through initiatives like our Youth & Sports Policy and stronger institutions like the NCC, we are committed to ensuring every young person gets the platform to dream, grow, and succeed,” he stated.

The Chief Minister also expressed confidence in the capabilities of Meghalaya’s youth, saying they can compete at both national and international levels if given the right opportunities.
“I firmly believe that the youth of Meghalaya are second to none. Given the right opportunity, they can excel on any stage, national or global,” he added.
He further said the government would continue investing in programmes and institutions aimed at empowering young people across the state.
