SHILLONG — Meghalaya Congress president Vincent H. Pala launched a sharp attack on the BJP’s expansion strategy, questioning the party’s recent move to bring eight UDP MLAs into its fold.
“Expansion plan? Which expansion plan? To steal the mandate, that’s not a plan, that is not a strategy that is a bullshit idea,” Pala said.
He accused the BJP of weakening its own political allies and pointed to developments in other states where, he alleged, the party had taken legislators from coalition partners.
Pala also drew a sequence around the recent defections in Meghalaya, saying UDP had earlier laughed when Congress MLAs moved towards the BJP.
Pala said the NPP could now laugh at the UDP after eight of its MLAs joined the BJP, but suggested the “last laugh” would come if the BJP eventually targeted NPP legislators.
