SHILLONG — The East Jaintia Hills district administration has launched an awareness video urging National Food Security Act (NFSA) beneficiaries to link their Aadhaar with ration cards and complete the mandatory e-KYC process.
The video was launched at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall in Khliehriat by Deputy Commissioner Manish Kumar, IAS, in the presence of Assistant Commissioner F. Wann, Superintendent of Supply G.H. Kharsamai, wholesale dealers, Fair Price Shop dealers and officials.
Kumar said the video was intended to take the Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC message to more beneficiaries and help the district complete the process within the stipulated timeframe. He also asked wholesalers, FPS dealers and concerned government staff to step up their efforts and ensure that beneficiaries are properly informed.
The Deputy Commissioner said Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC were important for the delivery of food security benefits and also formed part of the requirements set by the Government of India. He appreciated the team involved in producing the video and described it as one of the better awareness videos produced among districts in the state.
The initiative has its roots in a music piece created during a regional camp held earlier in East Jaintia Hills. Assistant Commissioner F. Wann said the idea was later developed into an awareness video after encouragement from Meghalaya State Food Commission chairperson D.P. Wahlang, IAS (Retd.). Wann said the video would be circulated through digital platforms to explain the process and encourage ration card beneficiaries who have not completed Aadhaar seeding and e-KYC to do so.
The district administration said the exercise is aimed at improving transparency in the distribution of NFSA benefits and ensuring that eligible beneficiaries continue to receive their entitlements.
Officials from the Deputy Commissioner (Supply) office said the video was produced as a joint initiative with the Directorate of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Meghalaya. The administration also screened the video during Thursday’s programme in the presence of officials and other participants.
