SHILLONG: Authorities have announced a temporary closure of the Laitlyngkot–Lyngkyrdem stretch along the Shillong–Dawki road for three days beginning from 7 am on May 17 until 7 am on May 20.
The restriction was announced through a public notice issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Pynursla Civil Sub-Division, Gautam Warjri.
According to the notice, the temporary closure has been imposed to ensure public safety and allow ongoing construction work to continue smoothly along the affected stretch.
Officials stated that the closure is necessary for excavation activities, movement of heavy machinery and other construction-related operations currently underway in the area.
During the three-day period, vehicular movement along the route will remain completely restricted. Commuters travelling towards Dawki and nearby areas have been advised to use alternative routes through Pynursla–Dawki–Amlarem and the Pynursla–Nongjri–Sohra road.
Authorities have urged residents and travellers to cooperate with the temporary arrangements and plan their travel schedules in advance to avoid inconvenience.
