SHILLONG — The Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has invited Paul Lyngdoh and Adelbert Nongrum to return to the party as it rebuilds its organisation ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections.
KHNAM working president Thomas Passah made the appeal on Monday, saying both leaders began their political careers with the regional party and should consider returning to work for the Hynniewtrep community.
Passah said KHNAM was preparing to identify candidates for 2028 and would give opportunities to people willing to take up leadership roles.
“We may have very few people coming forward to contest, but we have promised that those who have the spirit will be given an opportunity to become leaders of the community,” he said.
Passah said KHNAM would keep its doors open to those willing to work for the community, while acknowledging that the party could not prevent anyone from leaving.
