Meghalaya to Host North East India infrastructure Summit & Exhibition 2026 in Shillong

As Northeast India pushes for faster connectivity, investment and urban growth, Meghalaya is preparing to host a major infrastructure summit in Shillong aimed at bringing together policymakers, investors and industry leaders from across the region.

Shillong, May 10 :The Meghalaya government is set to host the North East India Infrastructure Summit & Exhibition 2026 in Shillong, as the state continues positioning itself as a growing hub for investment, connectivity and regional development in Northeast India.

According to an official invitation released by the Government of Meghalaya, a curtain raiser event for the summit will be held in New Delhi on May 15 ahead of the main event scheduled for June 11 and 12 in Shillong.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will attend the curtain raiser programme as the Chief Guest, while Sanjay Jaju, Secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), will participate as Guest of Honour.

The summit is expected to bring together policymakers, infrastructure experts, investors, industry leaders and government agencies to discuss the future of infrastructure and economic growth in the Northeast region. Officials said the event will focus on areas including:

  • road and transport connectivity
  • urban infrastructure,
  • digital communication
  • tourism infrastructure
  • investment opportunities
  • sustainable regional development

The initiative comes at a time when northeastern states are witnessing increased attention from both the Centre and state governments regarding connectivity and infrastructure expansion.

Over the last few years, Meghalaya has pushed multiple projects linked to:roads,tourism,logistics,digital infrastructure,education,and urban development. Shillong hosting the summit is also being viewed as part of the state government’s broader effort to position Meghalaya as an important economic and investment destination in the Northeast.

The event is being organised with support from several ministries and infrastructure-related organisations, including agencies linked to transport, communications and regional development.Officials believe the summit could help strengthen discussions around long-term infrastructure planning and private sector participation across Northeast India.
